Here's a handy chart outlining the advantages of a Tablo subscription:
TV Guide Data
Tablo's apps are powered by our guide data. Users with subscriptions will be able to see 14 days of data instead of just 24 hours, which will make finding and recording programs much easier.
Guide data also provides episode and series synopses so you can learn what a show is about, or decide whether or not you've already seen an episode.
It’s easy to browse shows based on the beautiful cover art images in the Tablo app. Without a subscription, program tiles within all apps will revert to simple blue tiles with text.
Record By Series
Have a ‘can’t miss’ show or want to start an archive of Simpsons reruns? Record by series, available for subscribers only, makes this a snap. You can choose to record ALL or just ALL NEW. This feature isn’t available without the guide, but you can still record episode by episode.
Without a subscription you can choose to record a single episode at a time in the Live TV screen, or set a recurring recording for a date, time and channel. Series recording is not available.
Tablo Connect is a feature that allows you to watch content from your home Tablo (both live TV and recordings) while you’re on the road. This is only available for users with a Tablo subscription.
Live TV Grid View
With or without a subscription, you’ll be able to see a full 24 hours of programming within the Live TV grid view. From here you can also play live TV and set recordings.
Prime Time, Movies & Sports View
Tablo users with guide data subscriptions have access to a few custom views that make finding and sorting programming easy including:
- Prime Time - Displays all TV Shows, Movies and Sports events that are broadcast in prime time (7:00 PM - 11:00 PM)
- Movies - Displays all Movies that are scheduled to broadcast
- Sports - Displays all Sporting events that are scheduled to broadcast
All Tablo users have access to the scheduled view which shows you what programs are scheduled to record.
All users also have access to the recordings view which shows all programs that have been recorded on your Tablo.
Only Tablo subscribers have the ability to filter their TV screen with views that show programs that are premiering, are new (airing for the first time) and by genre (comedy, drama, reality etc.)
Manual or No Subscription Mode
While Tablo was designed to be used with a subscription, it is possible to browse, record and watch Over-The-Air HDTV programming without incurring additional monthly fees. Although you'll be missing out on some of the navigation screens, you can still watch live and recorded TV and set recordings through the manual recordings screen.
