Tablo OTA DVRs access high-quality guide data that goes far beyond the basic program airdate and time details which are sometimes carried via the Over-the-Air broadcast stream (called PSIP). Tablo sources this information from a company called Gracenote and it includes metadata that enables some of the DVR’s more advanced features. But this level of robust guide data is not free, which is why full access to the Netflix-style guide data is limited to Tablo customers with active TV Guide Data Service subscriptions.

Tablo OTA DVR TV Guide Data Subscription Free Trial:
All Tablo DVRs come with a free 30-day trial of our TV Guide Data Service subscription so cord cutters can enjoy the full Tablo experience right out of the box. Your 30-day trial will begin automatically when the Tablo is first connected, however it is recommended to register your Tablo DVR immediately by setting up an account at account.tablotv.com. By doing so, you will receive a series of ‘welcome’ emails that will help you get up and running quickly to make the most out of your Tablo experience.
Select a Tablo Subscription Within 30 Days:
We recommend that you select and purchase a Tablo TV Guide Data Service subscription as soon as you have completed the initial set up of your Tablo device, but you will have a full 30 days to decide if you want to try before you buy.
Monthly and Yearly subscriptions will only be billed the day after your trial ends, so there’s no need to worry about losing out on your ‘freebie’ days.
If you don’t purchase a subscription before your trial ends, you will no longer have access to Tablo’s advanced features including series recording, which means non-manual recording schedules will be lost. Tablo Connect out-of-home streaming will also be disabled on Tablo network-connected DVRs and in-home streaming to secondary TVs on TV-connected DVRs.
Tablo Subscription Store Step by Step:
Step#1:
Selecting and purchasing a Tablo guide data subscription is easy. Start by visiting account.tablotv.com or click on the ‘My Account’ button at the top of our main website at tablotv.com.
Step#2:
If you’ve already created an account, select ‘Login to My Tablo Account portal’. If not, you’ll need to begin by creating an account.
Step#3:
Then you’ll be asked to select the type of Tablo product you wish to register.
Step#4:
Next you’ll be asked to enter your device’s serial number. This will allow us to associate your subscription account to your device.
(NOTE – If you have not yet set up your Tablo or selected the wrong product from the previous screen, the serial/ID lookup will not be successful.)
If your Tablo device is not found, double check the code you’ve entered and try again. If it’s still unable to be found, contact Tablo Support and we can investigate.
Step#5:
Next, you’ll need to select a subscription type: Monthly or Annual.
(Your Tablo DVR subscription is tied to YOU, not the device, so you can change the unit to which it’s associated at any time.)
Step#6:
Once you confirm your subscription selection, you’ll be asked to enter your credit card details.
Tablo’s payment processor accepts VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX and DISCOVERY credit cards. Credit-based gift cards or debit cards are not accepted.
Step#7:
Once your payment has been processed, you should be able to navigate to the Tablo web app at my.tablotv.com and see that your subscription status has changed from TRIAL to ACTIVE. If the status has not updated, click REFRESH.
And that’s it! You are all set to receive Tablo news, special offers, software and firmware updates as well as full access to all advanced features and out-of-home streaming!
Tablo Subscription FAQs
Q – My credit card is valid, so why is the payment failing to process?
A – Ensure your Tablo account zip/postal and credit card zip/postal match and/or that your bank does not automatically block international transactions.
Q – Why is there an extra fee being applied to the transaction on my credit card statement?
A – Some US-based banks may choose to apply a small foreign transaction fee on the purchase as Tablo’s parent company is based in Canada, even though the bank we use to process transactions is in the US.
Q – If I cancel my subscription before its end date, will I get a refund for the unused portion?
A – No, Tablo will not issue refunds on guide data subscriptions. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain valid until the end of the subscription term.
