All new and refurbished Tablo DVRs come with a free 30-Day trial of our TV Guide Data Service subscription so cord cutters can enjoy Tablo's advanced DVR features, right out of the box.
After the first 30 days, the optional TV Guide Data Service is recommended for the best cord cutting experience.
It enables some of Tablo's cooler features including series recordings as well as out-of-home streaming through Tablo Connect for network-connected Tablo DVRs and in-home streaming to secondary televisions for TV-connected Tablo DVRs.
The chart below shows exactly which basic features are included with your Tablo OTA DVR as well as the more advanced features that you can get with an optional Tablo TV Guide Data Subscription. Some features are dependent on the guide data available, which we source from Gracenote. Full details and screen shots of the interface are below.

Advanced Recording Features
All of Tablo's apps are powered by TV guide data.
Users with subscriptions will be able to discover and easily set recordings for programs airing over the next 14 days, instead of just the next 24 hours for those who opt out of a subscription.
With or without a subscription, you’ll be able to see a full 24 hours of programming within the Live TV grid view.
From here you can also play live TV and set recordings.
All Tablo users have access to the scheduled view which shows all of your scheduled recordings, whether or not there is an airing in the next 14 days.
From here you can also unschedule specific airings and resolve scheduling conflicts.
All users also have access to the recordings view which shows and allows you to start playback of all of the completed recordings on your Tablo.
Subscribers will have access to additional sort and filter options on most apps including TV Shows, Movies and Most Recent.
Tablo subscribers have access to custom views and filters that make it easy to discover your favorite programs and new shows including:
Both subscribers and non-subscribers have the ability to create Manual Recordings, however this is the ONLY way for non-subscribers to set programs to record.
Manual recordings are set by date/time/channel on a one-time or repeating schedule.
A full guide data subscription provides episode and series synopses so you can learn what a show is about, or know whether or not you've already seen a particular episode.
When browsing, cover art for programs creates the beautiful Netflix-style guide in the Tablo app. Without a subscription, program tiles within all apps will revert to simple blue tiles with text.
Have a ‘can’t miss’ show or want to start an archive of Simpsons reruns?
Record by series, available for subscribers only, makes this a snap.
You can choose to record ALL airings of that program or ALL NEW to just get episodes that have been previously unaired.
Available for subscribers only, Tablo's advanced recording options provide more flexible scheduling and recording management capabilities including:
Tablo's out-of-home streaming service - Tablo Connect - lets you access live and recorded TV from your network-connected Tablo via paired devices anywhere in the world.
It is a subscriber-only feature and is not compatible with TV-Connected Tablo DVRs.
For TV-connected Tablo DVRs like Tablo DUAL HDMI and QUAD HDMI, in-home streaming to up to two secondary televisions is a subscriber-only feature.
This allows you to stream live or recorded TV from your TV-connected Tablo DVR to streaming set-top-boxes and Smart TVs running the following operating systems:
If you have a network-connected Tablo DVR, streaming within the home does not require a subscription.
Tablo ATSC 3.0 QUAD HDMI does not support streaming to any secondary devices.
