Our roundup of the TV industry news and insights you need to know, including:
- The Arizona Coyotes are the latest professional sports team to move its broadcasts from cable to free over-the-air TV. Broadcast partner Scripps says it’s ready to step in if more teams can’t get deals done with regional sports networks.
- Abbott Elementary, Fire Country, NCIS and more will all be returning for new seasons (as long as SAG and the AMPTP can get back to the negotiating table). Other shows weren’t so lucky… Find out if your favorite broadcast TV shows have been renewed or canceled in our recent blog.
- New OTA subchannel The Nest featuring ‘comfort food programming’ will be replacing the Stadium channel for over-the-air viewers starting October 30th. Make sure to run a fresh channel scan regularly on your Tablo or TV to pick up changes like this.
- The Federal Communications Commission wants to force cable and satellite companies to give refunds to customers affected by channel blackouts. But we all know the best way to avoid them in the first place is to watch your local channels with a TV antenna.
- New rules are also being proposed to ban cable companies from hiding the many fees that obscure the true cost of cable TV.
