- If you couldn’t get tickets to Alan Jackson’s final farewell tour performance in Nashville on June 29th, you’ll be able to catch it later this year as an NBC special, Alan Jackson: The Last Show. Directed by the team behind the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert film.
- Two summer staples are returning to FOX. Kitchen Nightmares will return for its 10th season on July 21st at 8 PM ET and Beat Shazam will be back starting July 28th at 9 PM ET.
- Flintstones spin-off The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show returns to MeTV Toons starting June 20th 11:30 am ET. It follows Fred and Barney’s teenage kids as they navigate their wacky stone-age lives. This will be followed by another classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, Hong Kong Phooey, at noon ET, chronicling the adventurers of a bumbling superhero kung-fu dog.
- FOX has reached an agreement to buy streaming device and smart TV manufacturer Roku for $22 billion. FOX plans to unite its major sports rights (NFL, MLB, NASCAR etc.) and news with Roku’s broad consumer streaming reach. Roku says it intends to remain an open platform that supports multiple partners, but programing changes are likely.
- As reported by Cord Cutter News the average cost of cable has risen to $147 a month. That’s $1,764 a year for basic cable, not including specialized programming packages like sports.
