New Amazon Fire TV Stick Shipping, Fire TV Box Price Drops

Variety reports that the brand new Amazon Fire TV stick with voice remote is now shipping. Amazon also announced a price drop on the box-style streamer to $90 to compete with the new Roku Premiere. Reviews on the new device are good, but still note the downside that it pushes Amazon's own content a bit too aggressively.

Speaking of that, this week Amazon also previewed its new user interface which has a Netflix-style header that teases programming and video from themselves and select content partners.

Walmart-owned streaming service Vudu has just launched an free ad-supported service called Vudu Movies on Us. While it won't offer recent releases or current TV series, it's hard to beat access to free movies, especially when they're HD quality.

Some of the titles available today include Jennifer Lawrence's breakout film Winter's Bone, family favorite School of Rock and some good scary movies to get you in the mood for Halloween like Carrie and Poltergeist II.

Others may be more excited about the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries being added to the 'lifestyle plus' package.
