Tablo is a next-generation DVR that plugs into a digital TV antenna to capture free, local HDTV broadcast programs including news and sports within the US and Canada. Unlike traditional DVRs that are connected to one TV, Tablo does not feature an HDMI connection. Tablo connects to your home network using WiFi or Ethernet to stream content to any connected device inside your home or anywhere you have internet.
Tablo OTA DVR delivers live, local HDTV broadcast programs you can't get through Over-The-Top (OTT) internet content providers like Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix. Catch up on hometown news and sports and watch your favorite network shows live without waiting until the next day AND without the pricey cable bill.
A Whole-Home DVR, Tablo lets you stream live and recorded OTA HDTV content to as many as 6 devices on your local network at the same time. Or if you're on the go, you can stream live and recorded programs over WiFi or 3/4G wireless connections.
Cable operators compress their TV signals to conserve bandwidth in order to deliver multiple services (phone, TV and internet) over a single connection. Over-the-Air (OTA) HDTV signals received through antennas are uncompressed, delivering an incredibly crisp HD picture far superior to what you've been getting from your cable provider.
To use Tablo you need the following things:
If you'd like to watch programming on your big screen TV, you'll also need a Roku, or Amazon Fire TV, or Android TV, or AppleTV, or a Chromecast dongle (casting from an Android device or Chrome browser). You can also use the Tablo web app with an HDMI-enabled computer connected to your TV or directly on most LG WebOS 2.0 and 3.0 TVs.
Once connected, your Tablo OTA DVR system should resemble this diagram:
Hardware set up is super easy:
Remember to set up your Tablo in a ventilated area. Like any electronic device, it needs room to breathe.
Using the Tablo App is even easier:
Tablo will scan for all HDTV channels in your area and download guide data for all programs for the next two weeks.
Tablo OTA DVR lets you watch live and recorded television on any device in your home because it connects to your router and streams content over your network instead of HDMI.
Tablo's intuitive interface with gorgeous poster artwork and program details lets you discover your favorite broadcast shows and sports by genre, channel or time; all in crystal clear high definition. The Tablo App on your tablets and smartphones, as well as the Tablo web app for your computer provide a Netflix-style guide to your live and recorded HDTV no matter what device you choose to enjoy it on.
