Q&A > How Should I Handle Recording Duplicate Broadcast Stations?
Tablo Duplicate Channels

Send us your most pressing cord cutting questions via email so we can answer them in an upcoming issue.

This week's question comes from Kevin who says, "I live between two markets and can pick up doubles of several broadcast networks with my TV antenna. How do I limit duplicate recordings and make sure the Tablo DVR chooses to record from the strongest station?"

Folks who live between two broadcast TV markets, or on the border between the US and Canada, can likely pick up more channels than the average cord cutter. However, this can make recording content from your Over-the-Air antenna a bit more complex.

Thankfully, Tablo DVRs have a few built-in fail-safes to help cord cutters avoid recording conflicts and duplicate recordings.

First, you can choose to remove duplicate channels from your lineup. This isn't always feasible, especially if the channel airs some unique content you'd like to see, like sports or news. Second, if the program you're recording has precisely the same guide data information, Tablo will automatically choose to record from the channel with the strongest signal at the last channel scan and omit the other.

If that still doesn't do the trick, check out the advanced recording feature called recording channel selector. It will let you choose to record an entire series from a specific channel.
