Today’s question comes from Jeff who asks, “In my area, there are a lot of foreign language and shopping channels. Is there a way to remove unwanted channels from my Tablo’s guide since it’s unlikely that I’ll watch them?”
When you run a channel scan with Tablo, the app will list all the local broadcast channels it can receive from your TV antenna, as well as the free internet-based channels available.
All over-the-air channels whose signal strength is good enough to stream and record will be selected automatically. All available free streaming channels are also selected automatically.
But some of these channels might not be your cup of tea or broadcast in a language you don’t understand.
In that case, you may wish to customize your Tablo’s channel lineup by removing checkmarks next to those unwanted channels.
When you hit SAVE & CONTINUE, deselected channels and their associated shows and movies won’t be displayed in any of your Tablo apps and will automatically remain deselected when you run a fresh channel scan.
But, if at any time you’d like to add those channels back to your guide, you can simply return to your Tablo app and select SETTINGS > CHANNEL LINEUP. From there, you can re-select the channels you’d like to include and hit SAVE & CONTINUE.
(If there’s a channel you expect to receive that isn’t coming in during a channel scan, check out this guide for reasons why and potential solutions.)
