Tablo Success Story – By Ross, the Pay TV Escaper

ROSS TABLO CUSTOMER PAY TV ESCAPER

Is Tablo right for you? You’ve heard the buzz and read the expert reviews, but sometimes it helps to hear the Tablo Success Story from real Tablo customers to know if this is the right solution for you.

Our blog series, “How I Cut the Cord with Tablo” features Q&A style interviews with our Tablo OTA DVR customers, focusing on how they’ve cut the cord on cable to save money while enjoying a whole-home DVR experience using Tablo.

Whether you’re still on the fence about cutting the cord or you’re just looking for tips and tricks on how to improve your cord cutting setup, we hope you’ll find these cord cutting success stories helpful.

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?

I’ve been a customer of all of the major cable/satellite providers. Over and over again I was duped by their introductory pricing only to see my bills skyrocket to close to $100 per month for pretty basic TV services. For 5 years prior to cutting the cord, I had annual negotiations with my satellite provider to try to get my monthly costs down again. It became a huge pain to make those calls and still end up with minimal savings.

When a friend of mine talked about how his family had moved to an HDTV antenna and cut the cord, I immediately began to plan my escape from pay TV. After installing everything, I’m saving about $65 per month and I still get to watch everything I did before I switched. I should’ve done this years ago.

What do you get with an HDTV antenna that you couldn’t get another way?

With an HDTV antenna I get some local channels that I never even knew existed! And the quality is as good as or better than I ever had with satellite or cable.Tablo Should Have Done This Years Ago

Why did you choose the Tablo OTA DVR as part of your home entertainment arsenal?

Before cutting the cord, my wife’s only requirement was that we still have a DVR so we could watch our favorite programs anytime we wanted. So I started looking at the options out there. When I saw that Tablo allowed me to use a single unit for the entire house and that I could control it through a portable device, I was sold. The other options out there just couldn’t provide what Tablo provided.

What’s been the best thing about using/having Tablo so far?

It’s simple: I get the programming I want without paying any satellite or cable bills. And football season hasn’t even started yet! When it does, I’ll be enjoying my Tablo even more.

What other services and tools do you use to watch TV/Video content and why?

We access our Tablo through a Roku and we also use Hulu Plus and Netflix. Both of these services have great original programming that I never even knew about.

What advice do you have for others thinking of cutting the cord?

Look at your television watching habits before making the decision. When I did this, it became obvious that 90% of what we watched would be accessible through an HDTV antenna. The other part is the financing – once you realize that you could make your money back in a matter of months, you’ll see that the math makes a lot of sense. We’re paying ourselves back for the initial outlay using the money we would be spending on satellite TV. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. I haven’t missed satellite TV for one second.

Already enjoying your Tablo OTA DVR?, remember to post a review of your DVR on the online store where you purchased your unit and let your fellow cord-cutters know how Tablo works for you.
