Today’s question comes from Eileen, who says, “I record a lot of shows that come on every day, like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, so my hard drive tends to be full. Is there a way to delete several recordings in a series at once without deleting them all?”
While Tablo’s auto-delete feature ensures you always have room for upcoming recordings, there are several options for folks looking to do more proactive ‘spring cleaning’ on their Tablo’s hard drive.
Each TV series in your Tablo’s library offers a menu item called ‘Manage Episodes’. Depending on the status of the recordings in that series, this will offer several options, including:
- Delete Watched – To remove all episodes you’ve finished watching.
- Delete Failed – To remove any episodes that failed to record.
- Delete All – To remove all the recorded episodes in that series.
If those options don’t quite fit, Tablo’s ‘keep x’ advanced recording feature should do the trick. Located in the Recording Options menu, setting a keep limit for any TV series (either 20, 10, 5, 3 or 1) will instantly clear out all but the most recent episodes.

You can change the keep setting back to Auto immediately if you’d prefer to have episodes in that series pile up again. Or keep it enabled and, based on the level you set, your Tablo will automatically delete older episodes as new recordings in that series are completed.
However, if you often don’t have time to watch all of the great TV you can record with Tablo before your hard drive runs out of space, you should consider expanding your Tablo’s recording storage with a compatible hard drive.
