Netflix to Stream Three Dave Chappelle Comedy Specials

Following his recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, streaming service Netflix has announced three new stand-up specials from comedian Dave Chappelle will begin streaming in 2017. Chappelle rose to fame in the early 2000s with his wildly popular Comedy Central sketch show and then mostly dropped out of public view over the last decade. We're excited to see him back!

Canadian Corner: Bell Puts Kibosh on VMedia's Streaming TV Offering

Score another one for Canadian cable companies.

In a court decision this week, upstart IPTV provider VMedia was barred from continuing to sell a live TV streaming service delivered via a Roku app which plaintiff Bell Media claimed was infringing their copyright. The court awarded Bell - who brought EIGHT lawyers to the hearing - damages in the form of $150K in legal fees.

VMedia is considering whether or not to appeal, or go to the CRTC and ask them to clarify the rules around streaming TV over the internet.

Here at Tablo, we’re all for Canadian consumers having more REAL choice when it comes to TV service. If you agree, have your say by reaching out to the CRTC. Tell them that free or low-cost access to local, Over-the-Air TV channels for ALL Canadians - whether it's via an antenna or the web - is important to you and that regulations must be changed to support innovation.

(NOTE - streaming TV for personal use from an Over-the-Air antenna through a Tablo DVR remains 100% legal and protected in Canada and the United States.)
