Q&A > How Can I Get My Local FOX Channel to Watch the World Series?

Sad Baseball

Send us your most pressing cord cutting questions via email so we can answer them in an upcoming issue.

This week's question comes from Darren who says, "I've been thinking of cutting the cord on FiOS for a while but especially now that they're blacking out my local FOX station just in time for the World Series. What's the best way to get FOX now that will potentially help me cut cable later?"

Darren didn't mention where he lives, but in several locations carriage disputes between local station owners and Verizon as well as DirecTV could leave baseball fans without a way to watch the first game of the World Series tonight.

The best way for Darren to avoid the blackouts related to carriage disputes now and in the future is to watch FOX and his other local broadcast stations with an Over-the-Air TV antenna. Quality TV antennas are available at most big box, electronics, and hardware stores. Getting one now will enable him to enjoy the game tonight for free in high definition and set him up for cutting the cord in the future.

Another workaround would be for Darren to temporarily subscribe to a big bundle streaming service. However, the cost of an indoor TV antenna could be less than the cost of a month of service from YouTube TV or Hulu. Plus, streaming services aren't immune to carriage disputes either.
