Q&A > Will This New Fire TV Stick Help With Buffering?

Fire TV Stick 4K Max

Send us your most pressing cord cutting questions via email so we can answer them in an upcoming issue.

This week's question comes from Jeff who asks, "The new Fire TV Stick is supposed to have faster Wi-Fi. Will this help cut down pauses for buffering when I'm streaming TV?"

The brand new Fire TV 4K MAX streaming stick that Amazon announced this week will be the most affordable streaming device to support for the latest in Wi-Fi technology.

Wi-Fi 6 offers 40% faster data transfers and works much better in environments crowded with other Wi-Fi signals like apartments, or even homes filled with smart devices.

Both of these benefits can certainly cut buffering but to take full advantage of a Wi-Fi 6-enabled streaming device, you'll also need a Wi-Fi 6-enabled router to go with it.

If that's not in the budget right now, we'd suggest that Jeff check the Wi-Fi signal quality on his current streaming device and use these tips to improve his network.
