Happy Friday Cord Cutters!
This week we'll be talking about keeping an eye on your datacap, this week's must-see TV including the Superbowl, and much more...
Let's get to it!
Apple TV Sales Lagging Behind Competitors
New sales data shows Apple TV sales continued to decline over the critical holiday season while competitors like Roku continue to grow.
Not surprising given that Apple TV is one of the most expensive streamers on the market today, and many of its proposed plans to change the way we watch TV seem to have fallen through or fallen short of expectations.
Do you have an Apple TV and love it? Wish you'd picked something else? Tell us about it on Twitter or Facebook!
How-To: Solve Roku Remote Issues
Here at Tablo HQ, Roku is one of our favorite streaming devices. That being said, every once in a while the remote can get a bit finicky. Before you chuck it across the room, try some of these handy Roku remote tips thanks to the folks at CutCableToday.
If you've got a Tablo, we've got some great tips for using our Roku app on the blog. For example, did you know you can bypass the recording screen by hitting the play button directly from the grid guide?
Cord Cutting Tip: Set Bandwidth Usage Alerts
With more and more internet providers rolling out bandwidth usage caps, it's more important than ever to keep a close eyeball on your bandwidth usage. While most ISPs offer tracking via their websites, the data can often be delayed.
Our friends at CordCuttersNews.com shared good how-tos for enabling bandwidth usage alerts on the most popular router brands. Taking a few moments to set this up can help you avoid costly overages, especially if you're a new cordcutter and are unsure of how much you'll be relying on streaming services.
Looking for more tips to keep bandwidth usage under control? Check out the Tablo blog.
Are You Ready for Some Football?
It's Superbowl weekend! As you probably know, the best way to watch this Sunday without a cable or satellite subscription is to use an Over-the-Air antenna. That antenna will be especially important for viewers in several cities including Spokane, WA and Syracuse, NY because a retransmission blackout is in effect with local cable/satellite providers.
Will you be hosting a cordcutter Superbowl party? If so, send us your party pictures on Twitter or Facebook and we'll send an official Tablo t-shirt to those who post the best ones!

Canadian Corner: TVO Decommissioning All OTA Transmitters Outside GTA
Last week, public broadcaster TV Ontario (TVO) quietly announced it plans to decommission all of its existing OTA transmitters with the exception of the one in Toronto.
This means starting August 1st, viewers in Belleville, Chatham, Cloyne, Kitchener, London, Ottawa, Thunder Bay, and Windsor will no longer be able to watch TVO programming with an antenna.
While the broadcaster says its focusing on more online content, it will not offer a linear stream nor does it have any plans to create streaming apps.
If you're concerned about this, please let them know. You can email TVO directly at firstname.lastname@example.org, and/or sign the online petition. You can also contact your local MPP.
Work for Tablo!
Tablo's parent company Nuvyyo is growing! We're actively recruiting for several positions in our Ottawa, Ontario area office. (We prefer to have team members within nerf gun firing distance so we aren't seeking resumes from those looking to work remotely at this time.)
If you are (or know of) someone who would make a great customer support guru, or can code up a storm for our iOS/tvOS or Android apps, apply today!
We hope you enjoyed this edition of Cord Cutting This Week!
If you know someone who may be interested in cutting the cord on cable or satellite, please feel free to forward this newsletter to them or use the handy share buttons at the top of this email. Make sure to ask them to sign up as well!
