Today’s question comes from Ben, who asks, “Is there a way to customize my Tablo’s Live TV Grid? I watch the same station every morning so it would be nice to be able to get to it quicker.”
Most 4th Generation Tablo apps offer a variety of different views and filters for the Live TV screen via the Guide Options button. You can flip between different views and filters at any time, but your chosen view will stay selected until you change it.
The option that will work best for you depends on the type of Live TV viewer you are, so we thought we’d share some suggestions.
For the Habitual Live TV Viewer – Channels View + Recent Channels Filter
If you’re like Ben and tune in to the same channel every day, the Channels View with the Recent Channels filter applied is your best bet. With this view, your Live TV Grid will only display your ten most recently watched channels, with the latest channel you watched on that device at the very top.
For the Preferential Live TV Viewer – Channels View + Favorite Channels Filter
If your live TV viewing habits are slightly more varied, try the Channels View with the Favorite Channels filter applied. With this view, your Live TV Grid will only display the channels you’ve added as favorites, in the order you added them to that list. To get started using this view, you’ll need to favorite at least one channel by selecting any program on that channel in the Live TV Grid and selecting ADD CHANNEL TO FAVORITES.
For the Genre-Based Live TV Viewer – Category View
If your live TV viewing tends to focus on a specific genre – think sports, news or reality TV – the Category View groups together channels showing specific types of programming. This makes it easy to find shows that match your interests airing now and over the coming days. The Category View also includes groups for your favorite channels and your major local networks.
For the Plan Ahead Live TV Viewer – Jump To Day View
If you like to sneak peeks at what’s airing later this week and use the Live TV Grid to set future recordings, check out the Jump to Day View. This allows you to quickly travel up to six days into the future within the Live TV Grid without giving your thumb a workout.
