DVR for Cord-Cutters Expands Sales Channel to Include Top Online Retailers in the US and Canada
NEW YORK—September 29, 2014 — Nuvyyo, the makers of the Tablo DVR, today announced that its digital video recorders are now available through Amazon.com, Walmart.com and BestBuy.com in the United States as well as BestBuy.ca and FutureShop.ca in Canada. Tablo, a next-generation DVR that lets you browse, record and stream free local HDTV broadcast programs from your antenna to all your connected devices, can now be purchased for both ship-to-home and ship-to-store orders (where available) through these national retailers’ online stores.
Many cord-cutters – consumers who have cancelled expensive cable or satellite contracts – use HDTV antennas to access live Over-The-Air (OTA) programming. These free, high-definition TV signals are distributed by major national television networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, in most cities and towns in North America. With a Netflix-style program guide, Tablo’s easy-to-use app provides a better way to manage, record and watch live HDTV programming, including local news and sports, on an iPad, Android tablet, laptop, smartphone, or big screen TV through HDMI adapters like Roku, Chromecast or Apple TV.
“We are excited to be working with Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and Future Shop, some of the largest, most recognizable brands in online electronics retailing, to bring our Tablo DVR into the homes of their customers throughout Canada and the US,” said Nuvyyo’s CEO, Grant Hall. “Consumers will save money and still enjoy their favorite HDTV programs wherever and whenever they want, simply by plugging an HDTV antenna into Tablo. It delivers the HDTV recording and out-of-home streaming capabilities they need, without the expensive cable or satellite commitment.”
The MSRP for the 2-Tuner Tablo DVR is $219.99 US or $249.99 CAD. The 4-Tuner Tablo DVR, which provides two additional tuners for live TV and recording flexibility, is available for an MSRP of $299.99 US or $329.99 CAD. In Canada, Tablo is available exclusively at BestBuy.ca and FutureShop.ca. Please note, to use Tablo you’ll also need an HDTV antenna, a tablet, smartphone or computer to run the free Tablo app, an internet connection and a USB hard drive (Max 2TB capacity).
The Nuvyyo team will be in New York, NY this evening demonstrating the Tablo DVR at the Pepcom Holiday Spectacular event.
