Tablo Quad HDMI over the air DVR features four built in tuners, channel guide, automatic commercial skip, advanced recording options and direct connection to your TV set via HDMI.
For those of you who are not aware, Tablo makes two styles of over the air DVRs. Their network-connected Tablo DUAL LITE and QUAD DVRs are excellent and are some of the main DVRs that I recommend to people cutting the cord. Recently, Tablo released TV-Connected DVRs that feature an HDMI connection. Prior to this, there weren’t many options available that connect directly to your TV set.
The setup process on the Tablo QUAD HDMI was very smooth. It only took a few minutes. The picture quality from the Tablo is EXCELLENT. The Tablo’s Tuner sensitivity is also very good. You can watch or record up to 4 shows at the same time with the Tablo QUAD HDMI. With the included Tablo remote, you can power on the TV and adjust the volume, this is great for those of you who do not want multiple remotes, but you will need to enable CEC on the Tablo and your TV must have this compatiblity integrated as well.
Tablo’s advanced recording features are a must have for sporting and live events that can run into overtime. Timeshifting through a recorded show is very easy with previews.
Finally, one of the coolest features I love about the Tablo is Automatic Commercial Skip. Most times it works perfect, but occasionally it leaves in a news preview, which can be handy if you want to know what’s going on in your local news.
With four built-in tuners, you’ll never have to worry about multiple shows airing at the same time. This is one of the most powerful over the air DVRs on the market that can still connect to your TV set.
Another reason why I like the Tablo is the company’s dedication to the product. The Tablo is the only product they focus on. I found this to result in a higher quality and better customer experience compared to a DVR made by companies that have a lot on their plate.
