Nuvyyo’s Tablo box is for people who want to cut the cords and dispense with monthly cable bills but still have DVR convenience. The Nuvyyo box hooks up to an antenna, such as those made by Mohu and captures over-the-air signals that can be recorded and then streamed to any device with an internet connection. By enabling recording, it eliminates one of the main deterrents to ditching traditional cable and may help to expand the ranks of cord cutters. Based in Ottawa, the company raised $4 million from Celtic House Ventures last year.
