Q&A > How Far Back Can I Rewind Live TV on Tablo?

This week's question is from Kenneth who asks, "I was recently watching the same live channel on Tablo for a few hours. When I tried to rewind live TV beyond about 55 minutes I got a spinning circle and then got taken back to what was airing live now. Why is that?"

To enable the ability to pause and rewind live TV, your Tablo saves the content of the live broadcast you're currently viewing to your hard drive.

However, the maximum 'window' of live TV playback that your Tablo keeps is only about one hour. This prevents your Tablo's storage from filling up with live TV content that may never be used. Think of it as the live TV equivalent of auto-delete for recordings.

As Kenneth discovered, if you try to rewind beyond the current one-hour window, those video segments are no longer available. When this happens, the player software will return you to the current time.
