It's Fall TV Premiere Season!
There's a slate of new prime time programs coming to Over-the-Air broadcast TV this fall and The Hollywood Reporter has a great roundup that includes premiere dates and trailers so you can get a sneak peek at what's in store. Pitch, The Exorcist and This Is Us are already scheduled on our DVR!

Netflix Wants Annoying Data Caps to be Illegal
Netflix has sent a note to the FCC requesting they ban 'low' data caps for mobile data and any caps on wired broadband connections. While it's a bit self-serving for a streaming service to make this argument, they're correct in saying that they, "do not appear to serve a legitimate purpose." While it's possible to be a cord cutter even with a data cap, these artificial lines in the sand are mostly just a method for cable companies to boost revenue and discourage consumers from dropping TV service.

Broadcast TV Executive's Kids Don't Even Have Cable!
This week NBC's CEO admitted that none of his FIVE kids have a cable subscription. It would be interesting to know if any of them watch their dad's network with an Over-the-Air HDTV antenna given the recent study that showed growth for antenna TV viewing, especially among millennials.
15 Hidden Roku Tricks for Streaming Success
If you've mostly used Roku to watch Netflix, there's a lot more cool things you could be using this handy little box (or stick) for. Our friends at PC Mag shared some great tips and tricks this week including adding 'hidden' channels, connecting with Plex, and streaming live and recorded TV.
Football Streaming Live On.... Twitter???
Twitter's first NFL live stream happened last night and seemed to be well received by most who tuned in via the social media platform. Streaming video analyst Dan Rayburn reported that the video stream was about 3Mbps which looks great on most screens and streams easily, but HD sports fans may have noticed a picture quality difference between this and the direct live OTA feed from CBS or a higher bitrate feed from another source.
Those hoping to tune in via premium NFL streaming packages through Sling TV or Vue got a bit of a surprise though... Since the streaming rights for some Thursday games now belong to Twitter, they were shut out (along with everyone outside of the US). One more reason why an antenna is an important cord cutting tool for sports fans!
Cordcutters in Canada Deserve Better
The regulatory and economic landscape in Canada has made it much more difficult for cord cutting consumers when compared to their US neighbors.
Last week we mentioned the recent CRTC hearings about recent changes cable providers were forced to make. While the cablecos have agreed to small concessions, more change and innovation needs to happen which is why this week our CEO Grant Hall has been making the rounds (on Bloomberg TV, on The Huffington Post and in The Globe and Mail) to call for regulators, technology companies and consumers to work together to make change happen.
