Tablo is a DVR for HDTV Antennas. Tablo is an Over-The-Air (OTA) TV system designed to combine the functionality of a DVR and the convenience and mobility of a tablet app. Browse, record and stream free local HDTV broadcast programs on any device – anytime, anywhere in the world. This video provides an overview of Tablo DVR.
The Tablo OTA DVR collects free Over-The-Air (OTA) HDTV content through an external HDTV antenna connected to the device. The Tablo DVR is then connected to your home's internet router, either through WiFi or Ethernet cable. The Tablo app, downloaded on your tablet or accessed through the web on your computer, will walk you through the remaining installation and setup process and will become the primary interface with your Tablo OTA DVR system. Once Tablo has helped you scan for and select the HDTV channels you want to view, and download program guide data, you're ready to browse, record and stream live HDTV programming on your tablet, phone, PC/Mac or TV.
No, Tablo OTA DVR does not have an HDMI connection. Instead, it streams live TV and recordings over your home network to HDMI devices connected to your TV including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV (using the app on the 4th gen Apple TV, or via AirPlay from an iPad or iPhone), Roku (as a channel) or Chromecast (streaming via dongle to HDMI port). Please note - Support for Chromecast is available via the Android app and Chrome browser with the Chromecast extension. You can also use the Tablo web app with an HDMI-enabled computer connected to your TV.
When you buy Tablo OTA DVR we include the Tablo DVR, a power adapter, and a 3-foot Ethernet cable. The Tablo interface app is available as a free download. You can find information and links on all Tablo apps on our Tablo Apps Page. Every Tablo OTA DVR comes with a free 30-day trial of the Tablo Guide Data Subscription so you can try out some of the cooler features Tablo has to offer.

In general, those in major urban centers in Canada and the United States can expect to receive many free HDTV channels over the air including most major networks. The quality of your OTA HDTV reception is based on your proximity to HDTV broadcast towers, the type of antenna you're using and its location (indoor, outdoor, height off the ground, direction). Read our blog post Is Over-The-Air (OTA) HDTV right for you? on this subject for more information.
