OK... now let's get to it!
NEWS > COX Customers 'Forced' to Downgrade Internet Speeds
Earlier this month, the COX notified some of its customers that their plan's upload speed would be reduced from 30 Mbps to 10 Mbps which could negatively impact gaming and cloud DVR use, but more importantly filesharing and video conferencing for those working or schooling from home.
According to ArsTechica, what that original notification and what COX's customer service reps weren't told, however, is that customers could keep their plan as is if they update to a newer modem. COX says they've since corrected this communications issue and 'retrained' staff.
Whether or not you're a COX internet customer, it's always worth shopping around for alternative ISPs or negotiating with your current provider for a better deal.

Q&A > Do They Make 'Dumb' TVs Anymore?
This week's question comes from Doug who says, "I need a new television but all I can seem to find are Smart TVs. Do you have any advice on finding a 'dumb' TV?"
Doug is right. It's just about impossible for cord cutters to find a 'dumb' TV these days. Most major retailers won't even let you filter available televisions by 'Smart' or 'Not Smart' in web searches.
The exception is Walmart.com where a handful of options in sizes up to 70" were available from brands including RCA, JVC, and Sceptre. Even then, several Smart TVs from TCL and Walmart's house brand Onn snuck into the search.
Interestingly enough, some manufacturers are reportedly working on models with a 'basic' mode that will strip out the 'smarts' for those who prefer to use a separate streaming device or not connect their television to the web at all.
