Q&A > Is There a Streaming Service for Dogs?
Sad Puppy

Send us your most pressing cord cutting questions via email so we can answer them in an upcoming issue.

This week's question comes from Kelly who says, "I'm about to go back to the office full time. Before the pandemic, when I had cable, I used to leave the TV on to keep my dogs company. How can I do that now that I've cut the cord without the stream stopping or potentially running through my internet data cap? Is there a streaming service for dogs?"

Lots of folks like to keep the TV running for background noise. But pets who've become accustomed to having their humans working from home could also benefit from having the radio or TV on to reduce separation anxiety when they're now suddenly home alone for long periods.

And there actually is a streaming service for dogs — called DogTV — if you'd like to spoil your pooch. But there are also free videos on YouTube with 8-hour runtimes that would also work. As long as you've got settings like 'bandwidth saver' turned off on your streaming device and any TV screensavers disabled, playback should continue until you get home.

But the best option which won't impact your data cap is regular broadcast TV from an Over-the-Air antenna. It's free, doesn't require internet, and will keep playing all day.
