Q&A > How Do I Fix the Voice and Picture Being Out of Sync?
Watching TV

Send us your most pressing cord cutting questions via email so we can answer them in an upcoming issue.

This week's question comes from Simone who says, "The voices and the video have stopped matching up when I'm watching my Roku. How can I fix it?"

When the sound and picture of your television program don't match up, it can ruin your viewing experience. In the TV industry, this is what's known as a lack of A/V sync

Most TV technology has built-in timers to make sure the audio and video stay synchronized. However, it can occasionally fail especially if you're using a separate soundbar or speaker setup.

If you don't have a soundbar and the audio and video were synced correctly before, a simple reboot of your reviewing device (in Simone's case, her Roku) should do the trick. If not, disabling Roku's volume modes (automatic volume leveling or night mode) by pressing the * button on the remote during playback should resolve it.

If you have a soundbar or speaker setup, you might need to look for A/V Sync or Audio Delay settings and make some tweaks as it's possible for your speakers and TV to decode incoming audio or video at different rates.
