Q&A > What's the Cheapest Way to Get Local Channels Without an Antenna?
Antenna In Window

Send us your most pressing cord cutting questions via email so we can answer them in an upcoming issue.

This week's question comes from Bill who says, "I tried an antenna from Amazon and it didn't work. What's the next cheapest way to stream local channels live?"

Your local broadcast channels like ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX are one of the most expensive components of a cable or satellite TV bill. And if you switch to a streaming package with live local TV, it will still cost you around $65 a month.

Why? Because cable, satellite, and streaming companies all need to pay big bucks to re-transmit those channels to their customers. Unfortunately, the only cost-effective way to watch all of your local TV live is by using an Over-the-Air TV antenna so we'd recommend that Bill take a second look at that option.

Yes, there are people who legitimately cannot access signals due to obstructions or location. However, many don't give antenna TV a fair shake because they've purchased a poor quality antenna (of which there are HUNDREDS on Amazon) or haven't positioned the antenna correctly to get a strong signal. It can take a bit of work to get your antenna TV setup squared away, but there are really no other comparable alternatives that offer the same kind of savings.
