How I Cut the Cord with Tablo – by Brett, the Smugly Superior Cord Cutter

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?
Brett Tablo Cord CutterI recently moved and decided I didn't want to pay anyone anything for TV anymore. I didn't plan to stop watching TV - I just wanted to stop paying for it. I was spending close to $150 a month to get programming from a mid-tier satellite package to four TVs. Now I spend $0 a month. I get so excited whenever I think about this that a little pee comes out.

How I Cut the Cord with Tablo – By Nick, the Cord Cutting Gadget Guru

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?
The writing on the wall has been there for years: the cable and satellite companies run an inflexible, poorly reliable, and expensive service to provide what should be the opposite of what they provide. It should be of reasonable cost, flexible, and extraordinarily reliable!

How I Cut the Cord with Tablo - by Tim & Ian 'The Rogers Rebuffing Cord Cutters'

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?

We were, like so many others, numb to the high-cost of (popular Canadian provider) Rogers Cable service for many, many years. We were afraid to ‘cut the cord’, thinking that the high cost of cable was the only way to get good programing and HD content. After a truly horrible customer service incident in November 2013 we decided to cancel our Rogers service. We installed a roof mount HD antenna but still hadn’t found a reliable OTA DVR solution. What do you get with an HDTV antenna that you couldn’t get another way?
All the channels I get from my antenna are in HD. Even when I was paying over $160 per month for cable I had zero premium channels and zero HD. That cost was for basic cable only which is absurd!

How I Cut the Cord with Tablo - by Art ‘The Data Consumption Detective’

Tablo Owner Art from Joliet, ILWhy did you cut the cord and how much money are you saving each month?
I initially ‘shaved’ the cord 2 years ago for savings.

We were paying nearly $200/month with Comcast so we switched to DirectTV. As always after the initial 6-12 month ‘honeymoon’ period the price would skyrocket again, then we’d switch to Comcast again. We got tired of the endless calling and begging.

Technology made cutting cable more attractive. As of now we pay $61/month for 50Mbps Internet. That’s it.

Cable Companies Running Scared, Warning of Mutant Bunny Attacks

Technology is making cord-cutting easier which is making cable companies nervous.
