For NFL football fans, the playoffs are as good as it gets. Every weekend up until the Super Bowl feels like nonstop action!
This year’s NFL playoffs look like they’ll be especially entertaining. The Cowboys and Patriots are the two most dominant teams this season, but there are plenty of contenders that could prove tough to beat. In fact, the NFC is packed with teams with either playoff experience or top caliber QBs like Matt Ryan of the Falcons and the Lions’ Matthew Stafford who are capable of game-changing plays.
The best thing about being a cord cutter during the playoffs is that even if you don’t have cable, you can still catch the majority of the scheduled games because they’re available for free with a simple Over-the-Air antenna.
NFL Playoff Games You Can Watch with an Antenna
Most NFL playoff games will be broadcast by your local network channels like ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS. You can watch all of these channels can easily with any OTA antenna, which makes it the most useful cord cutting tool out there just like it was on Thanksgiving.
Keep in mind that where you live plays a big factor in reception. You can check out this page to see which channels are available in your area. Remember that some antennas have a wider reception range than others so if you live further away from local broadcast towers it can be worth it to pay for a better quality setup like the Mohu Leaf 50, which I use in my home.
The only channel you can’t watch Over-the-Air would be ESPN. For that you'd you’d need a service like Sling TV but otherwise you’re set with the antenna!
Don’t Miss the NFL Playoffs Even If You Can’t Catch the Game Live
With games airing on Saturdays and Sundays, it might be hard to stay plunked in front of your TV for every single playoff game but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the action.
To solve for this problem, you’ll need an over-the-air DVR like Tablo. It lets you record all the games you can receive with an antenna and watch them at your convenience, anywhere and anytime. You don’t even have to watch them on your TV because Tablo will also stream recordings to your phone, tablet, or computer and you can also pause and rewind the action if you miss something.
Even if you have to make a half-time beer run, Tablo DVR can make sure you don’t miss a minute of the action. Because it’s connected to the web, Tablo will let you stream the games live to your phone, tablet, or computer if you’ve got a WiFi or 3/4G connection. It’s pretty sweet!
As you can see, it’s so easy to watch the playoffs and that even diehard NFL fans don’t have to fork over all that money for a cable subscription!
