Why did you cut the cord?
We cut the cord for several reasons, but the rising cost was the primary one.
We’ve had Dish Network, DirecTV and, most recently, cable TV. Each seems to find reasons to implement a price increase.
I retired 5 years ago, and my wife retired last year. Our income has changed.
When our cable bill went over $200 a month I knew we had to do… something.

Why did you cut the cord?
Cable TV from the very early days touted access to commercial-free programs for a fee. That was a policy I could support.
Then not only did the majority of commercial-free programs go away, but the rise in the commercial-to-program ratio rendered them unwatchable.
And instead of the cost going down with the increase of commercials, the price went up. Way up.
Before cutting the cord with Tablo, I was stuck with the outdated tech that comes standard with traditional cable subscriptions. I hated the 1980’s style cable boxes, rarely updated apps, and old-school interfaces. Cutting cable allowed me to use best-of-breed apps and technology, make upgrades as I saw fit, and use all my favorite Smart Home bells and whistles.
Why did you cut the cord?
After many years of being forced into two-year cable contracts for services and channels I didn’t need, I’d finally had enough.
We had a pretty slim cable package with no premium movie channels and were still paying over $200/month for cable/phone/internet which the cable companies practically force you to bundle together for the best ’savings‘.
No more! I did my homework. Lots of it. And when the contract ended, I cut the cord and used it to swing into some sweet savings.
How much money are you saving each month?
I am saving about $120 a month on service, $7 a month on each of the cable boxes, and a little over $1.6 million on headache relief from having to deal with the monopoly-driven cable company! Now, that is some kind of savings!

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?
My name is Stacy and I'm a cable addict. I'm here to share my story in the hopes that other cable addicts will follow my lead.
Earlier this year, with our cable services increasing in price yet again and our pocket book getting stretched even thinner we decided it was time to either stop watching television or find an alternative. I went to a number of review websites and the name that popped up again and again was Tablo. When one of my closest friends brought the product up in conversation and said he was going to use Tablo to cut the cord, I knew it was a sign!
Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?
One day it dawned on me that the only TV I watched through my cable provider were channels that I could get free with an Over-The-Air (OTA) HDTV antenna. I was paying $98 a month for Dish Network and realized that as much as it pleased me to just pay money for something I didn’t use (haha), I was done with pay TV.

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?I recently moved and decided I didn't want to pay anyone anything for TV anymore. I didn't plan to stop watching TV - I just wanted to stop paying for it. I was spending close to $150 a month to get programming from a mid-tier satellite package to four TVs. Now I spend $0 a month. I get so excited whenever I think about this that a little pee comes out.

Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?
I was paying $200 per month with Cox Cable. We were spending all that money to spend most of our time channel surfing for something worthwhile to watch. I started cord cutting with a Roku to watch Netflix, Amazon, & Hulu. After researching OTA DVRs (Tablo and TiVo), I chose to add Tablo for its technology and money saving features.
Specifically, Tablo allows me to upgrade the replaceable hard drive to any size. The Live TV grid guide looks so advanced and polished compared to any cable provider. Access to all of Tablo’s features isn’t free but in comparison to pay TV it’s a great deal. I paid less than $50 for a yearly subscription.
Why did you cut the cord? How much money are you saving each month?I'm the kind of guy who likes to have control over my lifestyle. I know that a good company needs a plan for recurring revenue, but I was just sick and tired of sacrificing my money to the visual entertainment overlords who had me shackled by a contract.
So I went on a ’techno-diet‘! By that I mean, I resisted the urge to get new gear from the satellite company just because I could at the cost of 2 more years’ worth of billable chains. After 6 long months, my contract finally expired and I kicked the DirecTV habit!
